For the past month and a half, I’ve been living a pretty sedentary lifestyle on my days off. For the most part I would sit here in my room, visiting other parts of the house, but not really leaving except to grab food or other necessities. I am not quite as spry and nimble as I know I can be, which I attribute to never ever tumbling or working out/exercising beyond what is entailed in the normal course of my job at the gym.
So, it seemed like a good idea on Monday when I decided to go off into the corner and throw ~25 standing front tucks, 10 back tucks (easier, so I don’t need as much practice), and ~10 front tucked fulls (with a spring board) all within a 20 minute time period. It was good exercise, and upon finishing I could feel that I would probably be sore the next day… but I underestimated to what degree.
Yesterday morning when I woke up and tried to rise out of bed, my back muscles immediately expressed their displeasure with being used before having enough time to fully heal
. My glutes, biceps, oblique back, abs, and lower lats were also sore. Apparently it was a much better workout than I knew at the time
Moving around to start my day did help, but only to a degree. By time I went into work I was almost as sore as when I had woken up. This made me very picky during stunt class, since it hurt to muscle the girls during a toss when they made a mistake. These girls were all 8-10 years old and probably an average of 45 lbs, so that should give you a clue as to how sore my muscles were!
As a matter of fact i’m still sore today, but its more of a dull ache. I will probably wake up tomorrow with a little bit of soreness left and none at all on Friday (unless i decided to repeat my regimen at the gym tomorrow).
December is here and it has been pretty warm for the most part… which makes it difficult for me to continually wear my santa hat, as is my holiday custom. It is supposed to rain hard and get cold tonight, so maybe the current spring-like weather can be chalked up to an errant weather phenomenon.
In other news, Ryan’s car got broken into on Monday night. A nameless (to protect the guilty) friend is courting the good friend of his recent ex (lovely, eh?). I visited Mama G at her today as part of an errand. She works at a dermatologist’s office a few miles from the gym. She is doing very well, though her daughter Lisa has a lot of stress from friends and school as of late (its finals time).
Also, I’d like to share a story. A couple of weeks ago (the week of the Georgia-Tennessee game, if I am not mistaken), a girl came to the house selling magazine subscriptions. She was a collegiate athlete at Kennessaw State University raising money for a tournament in Hawaii that she and her team were going to take part in during late November/early December. In the course of renewing a magazine subscription (which had about run out), we chatted a little bit and she offered me her phone number. Not abnormal, given our conversation, but it was still a first for me. In any case… my excitement was short lived because the phone number which-I-did-not-ask-for that she wrote down and gave to me was the wrong number. I’m at a loss.
Its not like she needed to chat me up, I had already given her a check for the magazines, and this was just conversation after the fact. Also, its not like I asked for her number, so there wasn’t any pressure for her to leave it with me either. I called it twice at different times to be sure. The person at the other end of the line doesn’t know who ‘Hollie’ is.
Maybe some of you ladies out there can explain the logic of the situation to me. Why would you offer up a wrong number out of the blue?
I give up. No luck with the ladies at all!
